The human body has never felt so far away from space as it does today. With technology’s advancement, one does not even need to be in a space anymore to see it. Mobile phones, TV, and the internet allow one to have a vision of whatever one wants to see in the world.
For my project, I studied how the senses of the body react to space and questioned whether there is another way to understand and appreciate space other than the eyes. For this, I focused my work on one sense: the hearing.
How can someone discern the space by only hearing it?
I would like to expose the audience to what they are missing from their sole focus on sight. I would like to reveal elements to the viewer he cannot see with his eyes only or misses or just does not pay attention to. And in a society which perceives space as a visible environment, what better place than an exhibition, a “show”, a place where people come to “see” something can be used to illustrate my project: exposing the viewer to his actions around the
exhibition. The viewer acknowledges what he is missing.
In this experience, the listener will discover the process of making the project in the exhibition. Going through the making help the audience to fully understand the project. The hearing allows one to connect with it and to picture himself in the creation. Also this audio guide is a critique of the society. It shows that anexhibition, a show cannot only rely on the sight.
